I have a long practice in meditation and mindfulness and I first began my meditation training as a psychology student in the mid 1980s. I practice insight based meditations and I have received training from Prof. Mark Williams from the University of Oxford, one of the founders of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. I have also received training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy from Ms Liana Taylor, Clinical Psychologist and Director of the Meditation Centre in South Australia.
I have previously worked in government, non-government and educational institutions. My clinical interests are in depression, trauma, and anxiety disorders such as Panic and Social phobia. For a number of years I worked in the Health Department of Western Australia providing clinical services to individuals who had attempted suicide or who regularly self harmed. I have also worked in Drug and Alcohol services, Child Protection and Public Health. I have always maintained a keen interest in personal and professional development and I have trained in behavioural, cognitive behavioural, interpersonal and narrative based therapies. In recent years I have been incorporating mindfulness based therapies such as mindfulness based cognitive therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to my work.
