Paul Buttigieg

Clinical Psychologist
BA (Psych) , MPsych (Clinical), Grad Dip Appl Psych
Member of the Australian Psychology Society

I bring to my mindfulness work my personal experience with meditation and many years of clinical practice and training in a range of evidence based psychotherapies. Since registering as a Psychologist in 1992, I have worked with a diverse client group from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. These days, I work full-time in private practice and I do contract work with a private psychiatric hospital running in-patient and out-patient groups in depression and anxiety. I facilitate Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) at a private hospital and I regularly run MBCT groups under the Medicare Mental Health Scheme with participants referred by their consulting psychiatrist or general practitioner. I like to take a holistic and integrated approach to my clinical work and I closely work with a psychiatrist trained in mindfulness. My clinical psychological practice involves services to teenagers and adults with a range of mental health disorders and significant mental health issues. I also work with couples experiencing relationship difficulties as well as couples wanting to enhance their relationship. I am registered to provide clinical psychological services under the Medicare Health Scheme and I am registered with the major private health insurers.

Dr Mark Craigie

Clinical Psychologist
BSc (Hons) First Class, MPsych (Clinical), PhD
Member of the Australian Psychology Society

I began conducting Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) classes in 2003 at Curtin University as part of my PhD research program. I was one of the first practitioners in Australia to conduct MBCT classes following the Segal, Williams, and Teasdale (2002) protocol. The outcome of this research and other research I have conducted has been presented at national and international conferences as well as in peer reviewed psychology journals. More recently, I have been the principal MBCT therapist at The Marian Centre, a private mental health hospital and daypatient facility. I have completed professional training in MBCT, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) with some of the most prominent developers of these forms of therapy in the world. I continue to run MBCT classes for the Marian Centre as well as run my own private practice for adults experiencing difficulties with depression, stress, anxiety and a range of mental health problems. My private practice is registered to provide clinical psychology services under the Medicare Better Access Scheme, and I am registered provider for most major private health insurance funds.

This page lists the professional background details of Mark Craigie and Paul Buttigieg. We are both highly experienced clinicians in the area of MBCT and mindfulness-based therapy, and specialise in using mindfulness-based approaches for anxiety and depression. Paul and I also provide workshops in mindfulness-based therapy for mental health professionals wishing to enhance their skills (please visit our Therapist Training page). In addition, we are willing to provide workshops or seminars of a more general nature to organisations wishing to understand how mindfulness can help reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance well-being.
